Rick Maryman grew up in the DC suburbs of Rockville and Kensington Maryland, and began learning to play the organ at age 9. He played for his first church service at 12. While in high school, he assisted his then teacher at a large church in DC. Further studies were at Montgomery College. After serving several churches in Maryland, Rick and his family moved to Staunton and served at Augusta Stone Presbyterian Church, followed by St. John’s UMC in Staunton where he recently completed his 25th year as organist, many of those years also directing the choir.
